Back40 Design helped UCO celebrate the opening of its new Academy of Contemporary Music with the launch of the ACM’s web site, www.acm-uco.com. The site features information and news about ACM, as well as a monthly “Rock Out Video” contest.
The groundbreaking academy, a joint venture with Britain’s award-winning and world-renowned Academy of Contemporary Music, is the first of its kind in America. Opening in the fall of 2009 this “school of rock” will be housed in Bricktown’s Oklahoma Hardware Building. The school’s hands-on learning approach focuses on performances, as well as music production and the business aspects of the music industry.
Says UCO president, Roger Webb, “This is one of the most exciting and creative ventures I’ve been involved with in many years in higher education. Through this unique partnership, UCO will provide an opportunity for students to receive hands-on learning about everything they need to know to succeed in the music industry.
Application to the school includes auditions in January and February. The school will kick off its first year with 150 students. Scott Booker, the manager of the Flaming Lips, will serve as the school’s executive director.
