The design is in the details, a print project explained.
It’s no secret we are known for our web expertise. In fact, we are very passionate about digital media and marketing. However, print will always hold a special place in our hearts. There is something about the feel of a well-executed print piece in your hands that can never be replicated or emulated by digital, and with a clever design, it is not easily dismissed either.
CityMart Energy, a long term client of Back40’s, has been in the fuel business for almost a decade, providing affordable programs to fueling stations and helping to establish new retail locations in their market. They approached us about building a tabbed presentation folder to showcase their numerous brand partnerships. They needed a physical leave behind that would serve as a solid presentation of CityMart’s history and current partnerships and offerings, including their own Accel Fuels brand which we recently designed.
As with all projects, we do our research first, assess the content that is needed to convey the message, and in this case, specify the materials required to go to press. For CityMart, the solution was a multi paged, multi tabbed folder with room for additional documents and proposals as needed for their presentations.
Having also provided the logo design for CityMart Energy, we were already familiar with the brand and immediately knew how to get to work. Their brand yellow is a bold color that we wanted to emphasize with this piece by going solid with the cover. The minimal approach puts full focus on the CityMart name with confidence.
The interior layouts for each partner brand were designed for a full page display shot followed by a quick read of the partnership and offerings on the adjacent page. Our goal was to make big and bold visual statements with clear and concise copy.
Page tabs were custom designed and die-cut with a specific corner radius to avoid snagging and tearing, as well as provide a comfortable feel when thumbing through the pages. Each partner name was then set in a secondary font within the CityMart brand. We also used a special Soft Touch coating on thick stock material throughout the piece for a premium and comfortable feel in the hands.
To finish out the piece, we included a camouflaged pocket which utilizes the featured page spread image on its layout, making it nearly invisible when it isn't used to house additional documents.
CityMart was very excited to get their hands on the prints and to start putting them to good use in their upcoming meetings with potential partners. We’re excited to see how it serves their needs.
