Lunch with an Oklahoma City Marketing Consultant

Edmond OutlookI had an interesting lunch with Gary Owen last week. Gary is an advertising consultant for some of our Edmond Outlook magazine clients. Gary’s company primarily provides TV & Radio creative and media buying services. He’s freely admits that he’s not a big “print design guy” but he has recommended our monthly publication to several of his clients looking to expand their Oklahoma City marketing campaigns into print advertising.

Why does Gary recommend us? That’s why I took him to lunch. So over a tasty Ciabatta sandwich (I’d mention the restaurant but they don’t advertise with us) I listened to him explain why he recommends the Edmond Outlook over other print advertising.

Trust:

Gary is also a web design client of ours. We host his website. In fact, a few years back, we rescued his website from an Oklahoma City web design firm that closed up shop and left dozens of their clients stranded without access to their websites. Long story short: We took over Gary’s downed website and got it live again in record time and he’s been a client ever since.

Consistency:

Gary likes that his clients can depend on our publication to get their message out consistently to the same households month after month. Gary referred to this as “consistent frequency.” He went onto explain other types of direct mail are delivered infrequently to select zip codes for a few months and are typically disposed – while the Edmond Outlook is expected every month and read.

Reach:

Gary understands the cost of direct-mail marketing and the commitment we have made to our advertisers. We have invested in “consistent frequency.” For more than 5 years, our publication has been direct-mailed every month to nearly every household in Edmond, Oklahoma. And as Gary reminds me, Edmond is a very affluent market. Gary is preaching to the choir.

Quality:

Gary likes that the magazine has local articles about a local market. He said he feels like he can get a ‘pulse” of Edmond through reading our publication. Articles are well-written and touch on a diverse range of subjects. So, I’m half way through my sandwich and starting to work on my coleslaw and I’m thinking Gary gets us! And this is really good coleslaw, I wish Charlestons would advertise with us.

Advertising Design:

Its no secret our magazine derives its income solely from advertising, but as this established Oklahoma City advertising professional so aptly put it, the ads are well designed. I like to think of it as – they don’t suck. There are so many sucky ad designs (and ad designers) out there. We spend the time and production hours to have great designers create great ads.

So for the cost of Gary’s soup and salad, I had my answer. Gary’s a straight shooter. If you would like to know more about the Edmond Outlook, contact Laura Beam at 405-301-3926

More about Gary Owen:
If you heard Gary’s voice you would recognize it immediately. For years he’s been a voice icon for a number of TV and radio commercials and is most recognized as the signature voice of OETA, Frontier City and other venues. Gary also performs professionally as a ventriloquist. Read our Edmond Outlook article on Gary and this very special talent.
