We’ve had clients call us and ask about these emails they get promising 1st page results for their businesses. The key is getting ranked high for important search terms that yield results. Many of these SEO businesses will rank you for unproductive searches. For example, if you have an oil changing business they can promise first page results for “oil change + rhubarb.” They fulfilled thier promise of first page results, but in a completely worthless way to you and your business.

There are also dozens of unorthodox methods of getting higher ranks for searches, many of which can get your website blacklisted by Google. Once that happens, good luck climbing the ranks of reputable results again.
