Hacker
A computer expert. A hacker is generally thought to be a computer criminal, however in many computer subcultues a hacker is any kind of expert who has very detailed knowlege or cleverly circumvents limits.

Home Page
  1. The page that opens when you start your browser. You can use the Preferences dialog box to change your home page.
  2. The main page of a Web site.

HTML (HyperText Markup Language)
(Hypertext Markup Language) The language used to format documents for viewing with a browser on the user's machine or on a network, including the World Wide Web. HTML tells browsers how to display type and images to the user and describes responses to user actions such as activation of a link by a mouse click.

HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol)
HyperText Transport Protocol) -- The protocol for moving hypertext files across the Internet. Requires a HTTP client program on one end, and an HTTP server program on the other end. HTTP is the most important protocol used in the World Wide Web (WWW).

Hyperlink
Connection between one piece of information and another. Hyperlinks to other pages might be graphical images with colored borders or colored text (usually underlined)

Hypermedia
A method of presenting information in discrete units, or nodes, that are connected by hyperlinks. The information may be presented by using a variety of media such as text, graphics, audio, video, animation, image, or executable documentation.

Hypertext
Generally, any text that contains links to other documents - words or phrases in the document that can be chosen by a reader and which cause another document to be retrieved and displayed.
