- Dedicated Line
- A private line leased from a telecommunications carrier. For example, you might want two telephone lines, one for the fax or Internet, and one strictly for your phone.

An object-based model that builds HTML tags on to a browser while allowing for dynamic styles, content positioning and data binding. DHTML delivers a richer and faster browsing experience for the user.

- Dial-up Connection
- A low bandwidth Internet connection that uses a modem to communicate via a standard phone line.
- Domain Name

The unique name that identifies an Internet site. Domain names always have 2 or more parts, separated by dots. The part on the left is the most specific, and the part on the right is the most general. A web site is located by the use of this domain name. Some common top level domains (TLD) are:
- .com - Recommended for commercial entities. Anyone can register a .com domain.
- .org - Originally recommended for organisations, including non-profit groups. However today, anyone can register a .org domain.
- .net - Originally recommended for companies involved in Internet infrastructure. However today, anyone can register a .net domain.
- .biz - Recommended for a business related site. Anyone can register.
- .info - Recommended for an information providing site. Anyone can register.
- .edu - For colleges and universities.
- .gov - For government agencies.
